Privacy Policy

Overview

FinsiderAI is a free financial calculator and education service. We do not require registration, do not sell advertising, and do not monetise user data. This policy explains what limited information we collect, why, and your rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and applicable Indian law.

What we collect

Calculator inputs - nothing stored

All calculator inputs (SIP amounts, return rates, years, etc.) are processed entirely in your browser. They are never transmitted to our servers, never logged, and never stored. Inputs disappear when you close or refresh the page.

Contact form

When you submit the contact form at /contact, we collect your name, email address, chosen subject, and message. This data is stored in a private file on our server, accessible only to FinsiderAI staff, and used only to respond to your enquiry. It is retained for a maximum of 12 months, after which it is deleted.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to The Insider Brief newsletter, we collect your email address. We use it only to send the newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in each email. On unsubscription, your email is removed from active sends; archived records are deleted within 30 days.

Server logs

Our hosting provider (Namecheap) automatically records standard web server logs: IP address, user agent, page visited, timestamp, and HTTP response code. These logs are used for security monitoring and are retained for 30 days. We do not cross-reference server logs with your calculator inputs.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Microsoft Clarity via Google Tag Manager (GTM-KVG6GGKQ) to understand aggregate usage patterns - which calculators are most used, how users navigate the site, and where errors occur. These tools collect anonymised and pseudonymised data including page paths, session duration, device type, and general geography (city-level). We do not enable User-ID tracking or cross-site tracking. Analytics cookies are only activated after you explicitly accept them via the cookie consent banner. You can withdraw consent at any time using the Cookie Settings link in the site footer, or via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Your rights under the DPDP Act, 2023

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to:

  • Access: Request a summary of personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate personal data.
  • Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data, subject to lawful retention requirements.
  • Grievance redressal: File a complaint with our Grievance Officer (details below) or with the Data Protection Board of India.

To exercise these rights, email contact@finsiderai.com with the subject line "DPDP Request". We will respond within 30 days.

How we ask for consent

On your first visit, a consent banner appears at the bottom of the page. You can accept analytics cookies, reject all non-essential cookies, or manage your preferences individually. Your choice is saved for 180 days. You can update your preferences at any time via the Cookie Settings link in the site footer, or by clearing your browser cookies.

Essential cookies (always active)

We use a session cookie for CSRF protection on forms (contact form, newsletter subscription). This cookie does not track you across sites and expires when you close your browser. It cannot be disabled as it is required for secure form submission.

Consent preference cookie

When you make a choice on the consent banner, your preference is stored in a first-party cookie named finsiderai_consent. It contains only your analytics and advertising preferences (no personal data) and expires after 180 days.

Analytics cookies (require your consent)

If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity set their own cookies (e.g., _ga, _gid) to collect anonymised usage data. These cookies are only set after you explicitly consent. You can withdraw consent at any time using the Cookie Settings link in the footer.

Advertising cookies (not currently active)

We do not currently use advertising or profiling cookies. If this changes in the future, we will update this policy and prompt you for fresh consent before any advertising cookies are set.

Third-party services

We do not use social login, embedded social widgets, or payment processors.

Children

FinsiderAI is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has submitted data through our contact form, email us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

We will post updates on this page and update the effective date. Significant changes will be announced via the newsletter.
